Charles "Fred" Wyatt of Cedaredge died Jan. 17, 2017, at VA Medical Center in Grand Junction. He was 98.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction. A celebration of life and potluck will be held at 10 a.m., June 10, at Hanson Park in Walden.
Mr. Wyatt was born in Cowdrey on March 10, 1918, to Fred and Ethel May (Brands) Wyatt. He spent his childhood and attended school in Cowdrey. He joined the United States Army in 1942 and served in World War II.
On May 4, 1947, he married Betty Jane Van Valkenburg. They shared 52 years together before her death in April 1999.
Mr. Wyatt was a member of the Walden VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Fredrick Wyatt of Cathedral, Calif.; two daughters, Beth Kennedy of Cedaredge and Rebecca Underwood of Surprise, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Chad, Todd and Craig Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; one brother; and two sisters.
