Lifetime North Fork resident Charlie J. Todd died Sept. 10, 2017, at the Paonia Care Center. He was 97.
Memorial services were held Sept. 18 at the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge with Pastor James Gall officiating.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1919, to Charley and Alma (Armstrong) Todd in Hotchkiss. He spent his childhood in Hotchkiss and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1938.
On May 10, 1941, he married Johanna Carville in Moab, Utah. They were married 65 years.
Mr. Todd was a former member of Hotchkiss Elks Lodge #1807.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but especially horses, whether riding or packing hunters into camp and cowboying. He rode horseback on the Colorado Trail for 428 miles when he was 72. He also enjoyed spending time with family.
He is survived by his son, Chuck (Sue) Todd of Crawford; daughters, Sharon O'Moore of Henderson, Nev., and Jean Brinkerhoff of Farmington, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Brad) Coulter of Torrance, Calif., and Charlene Kocjancic of Paonia; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna; and two sons, Russ and Dale Todd.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
