Photo submitted Happy holidays from the Delta County Libraries administrative staff -- Leah Morris, Gail Srebnik, Kristi Lloyd, Lea Hart and LaDonna Gunn.

As she puts on a red sweater embroidered with green trees and bejeweled with tacky holiday broaches, interim district director Lea Hart laughs. Holiday spirit has reached the basement administrative offices of the Delta County Libraries, and it is likely to last through the next couple of weeks as staff members districtwide look forward to time off to spend with their families.

"Everyone has really been working hard in the Delta County Libraries," Hart explains. "We've been somewhat short-staffed for months for numerous reasons and people have really stepped up to meet deadlines, maintain programming, and help each other out. Our employees deserve a break."

The break falls on Dec. 24, 25 and 26, and the libraries will be closed all three days. However, Hart stresses that library users who cannot last without a library during that time still have options. She says, "We'll keep our wi-fi on, so people can access the Internet from outside each building. We also have so much to offer on our website. I'd encourage anyone who has a few idle minutes this winter to explore the library website."

The library website,, offers access to both the library catalog and the library's electronic resources. Patrons can access their accounts to place holds, renew items and check on availability of materials. Electronic resources include downloadable e-books, audiobooks, magazines and music, as well as online classes, encyclopedias and much more, hopefully enough to carry library lovers through the holidays.

Hart says, "We wish all our patrons safe and happy holidays. And I hope everyone has time to read!"
