Colorado law requires that children going to school be immunized against vaccine-preventable disease. Colorado follows the immunization schedule approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other physician groups which recommend that health care providers follow the schedule known as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices or the ACIP schedule.
Students who have not been vaccinated according to the ACIP schedule in the past will need to get up to date on immmunizations that give the best protection against vaccine preventable disease. Changes that some parents may notice for the 2015-16 school year include:
• Two doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine are now required for all K-12 grade students.
• Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine must follow correct spacing between vaccines as well as correct ages.
• MMR and Varicella -- first doses must be given no more than four days before the first birthday. If vaccine is given more than four days before the first birthday it is not valid and is to be repeated.
Please take your child's updated immunization records to the school each time your child receives an immunization.
NEW: House Bill 14-1288 was passed in May 2014 and requires schools and child care centers to calculate immunization and exemption rates for their enrolled students. Anyone can now call the school and ask for those rates. Many parents, especially those with children too young to be vaccinated or whose child can't be vaccinated due to a medical issue, can learn which schools are best protected against vaccine preventable disease.

In lieu of a completed certificate of immunization, parents or guardians will need to provide a medical, religious or personal exemption.
Immunization requirements will be strictly enforced for all students. Students who do not meet the requirements will be denied attendance according to Colorado Revised Statutes 25-4-902.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
