The following information was submitted by Joe Carlson as a means of introducing the passion Cedaredge High School's new baseball coach, Terry Montoya, has for the community and Bruin baseball team.
Cedaredge High School has a new baseball coach, Terry Montoya. He comes from Rye after being on a staff that won two State Championships (2011 and 2015) and multiple final four appearances. He has brought energy to the baseball program, school and community. Part of that energy and vision helped create a community-based project to renovate and remodel the old dugout into a modern clubhouse. This has given the athletes a place to congregate and leave their gear after practice. Plus, now during games they have a roof over their heads that will deflect sunshine, snow and baseballs.
This project was spearheaded by Matthew Furubotten and Joe Carlson. Specifically, Furubotten used his construction skills and business partnerships to drive the end result. This project, with an estimated cost of $15,000, involved no tax dollars or school monies. It was all made possible by the generous support and donations of the following businesses: Casa Bella Homes by MFC, Edward Jones, Big John's Lumber, Delta Building Center, Welfelt Fabrication, Water Jets West, Tiger Electric and Alpine Edge Engineering. Plus individual labor was provided by Daniel Beachy, Levi Hanson and Jeremiah Brooks.
During tough budgetary times, the Delta County business community rallied to complete a needed project that will be enjoyed for years to come. Please show your support by doing business locally. A big thank you to those who have contributed to this worthwhile endeavor.
