Kirby Henderson's boys track team had most everything going the right direction last Saturday as the Bruins scored 148 points to win their own Cedaredge Invitational track meet.
There were 17 teams entered and all four Delta County track teams finished in the top 10. Delta was second with 112 points, Hotchkiss fifth with 42 points and Paonia was ninth with 29 points.
Helping the Bruins collect maximum points in an event were four individuals and two relay teams.
There were no multiple individual winners for the Bruins. Isaac Swoffer placed in three events, beginning with his victory in the 100m dash with an 11.48 finish. Swoffer was second in long jump with a leap of 19'6" and finished sixth in high jump.
Ty Grant had a good day in sprints, winning the 200m dash (23.36) and placing second in the 100m race (11.51).
Other first-place winners included Xander Purcell in shot put (43'1") and Patrick Walker in discus (142').
Relay teams earning first place finishes included the 800m relay (1:33.43) and the 1600m relay (3:32.97).
Other second-place winners for the Bruins included Brendon Klaseen in the 400m dash. Klaseen was leading coming off the final turn but did not have the kick Rangely's Ben Scoggins did and finished second with his time of 51.95.
Cedaredge posted third-place times from Jordan McMillan (800m run, 2:11.64), Drew Markley (300m hurdles, 43.27), Josh Jenkins (triple jump, 39'1.25") and the 400m relay team (47-0).
Individuals with fourth place times included Wyatt Camp (100m dash, 12.07), Danny Mendoza (110 high hurdles, 17.36 and 300 hurdles, 43.33) and Caleb Williams (3200m run, 11:46.09). The Bruins' 800 sprint medley relay team was also fourth with its time of 1:46.98.
Andrew Richardson placed fifth in the 800m run.
There were two seventh place finishes for Cedaredge; Zak Morgan (110 high hurdles) and Austin Meyers (shot put).
An eighth-place point was scored by Cedaredge's 3200m relay team.
The Bruins are scheduled for more track competition this weekend at a meet hosted by Palisade at Stocker Stadium on April 8.
