Delta United Methodist Church is again offering after-school care when children are released early from school. This outreach is for kindergarten-middle school children. Like last year, Delta County School transportation will have a designated bus for elementary school children to ride. They will be dropped off in the parking lot across from the church (near the fire station).
There is no charge for this program, and children will be provided snacks, crafts time, storytelling, games and help with homework. Volunteers are retired teachers and other staff and are first aid/CPR certified.
Fliers about the program can be obtained from the school's offices and permission slips should be returned to the schools or the church.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
