Clifton Lee Hood
Delta, Colo. resident Clifton Lee Hood passed away at his residence on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. He was 55 years of age.
Clifton Lee was born on Sept. 26, 1960, to Truman Hood and Delores Jean (Stears Lewis) Hood in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent his childhood in Utah County, and finished ninth grade in Springville, Utah, which was his last year in school because he decided to work full time with his grandpa at Roy Goods Wrecking Yard in Spanish Fork, Utah. His grandpa is Charlie Ralph Hood. And then he decided to work with his stepgrandfather, Delmore Singleton, in the wildlife national forest all over Utah. And then he worked for Geneva Steel Plant in Lindon, Utah. In his late teens he had to go on disability because of health reasons.
He married Vickie Jean Lee (Hood) (Whiting) in Las Vegas, Nev., on Nov. 15, 1983. They divorced in 1986.
Raising his three sons, Tony, Jeff and Gary, he married Kathleen Burr in December 1991. They had a son together, Alex, in 1992. They moved to Cedaredge, Colo., in 1993 and to Peach Valley in Delta, Colo., in 1994. They divorced in 2012.
Clifton took care of his grandparents, Netafee Jean McCloud (Hood) (Singleton) and Delmore Singleton until they passed away. He took care of his mother for 10 years until he could not take care of her any more. In 2010, Clifton's sister, Patricia Hood Mortensen, took their mother and is still taking care of her in St. George, Utah.
After his brother, Clenton Ralph Hood and his wife Tammy Lee Hood passed away, Clifton took care of his three children, Clayton, Anthony and Gracey until they left the nest.
Clifton has always had a strong faith. In Utah, he attended Assembly of God at his Uncle Curtis McCloud's church in Salem, Utah, and then continued his faith in the Maranatha Fellowship in Delta, Colo.
He enjoyed working on his property, listening to music, the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his four granddaughters.
Clifton is survived by his mother, Delores Jean (Stears Lewis Hood) Peebles of St. George, Utah; two sisters, Patricia Ann (Hood) Mortensen of St. George, Utah, and Valerie Jean (Lewis) Hill of Cedar City, Utah; four sons, Tony Hood and wife Jennifer and granddaughter Shaelie of Pensacola, Fla., Jeff Hood and three granddaughters Jayden, Kylee, Katelyn of Montrose, Colo., Gary Hood of Greeley, Colo., and Alex Hood of Fort Collins, Colo.
Clifton was preceded in death by his father, Truman Hood in St. George, Utah, Dec. 14, 2007; a sister, Trina Marie (Hood) Hatfield Boyle of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 17, 1997; and a brother, Clenton Ralph Hood of Cedaredge, Colo., July 11, 2003; his stepmom, Majel (Markham) (Lee) (Dillingham) Hood of Orem, Utah, March 10, 2009; grandmother, Netta Fay Singleton of Delta, Colo., Aug. 1, 1996; grandpa, Delmore Singleton of Delta, Colo., Sept. 24, 2004; and nephew, Cody Hatfield of Provo, Utah, June 29, 2013.
