Climate change hypocrisy

Dear Editor:

Yes, climate change exists. It always has. There have been ice ages, and there have been periods so warm that dinosaurs roamed. These variations happened before man began using fossil fuels, and, in fact, before man even existed. What caused climate change back then?

In the 1950s, the alarmists shouted "global cooling!" Twenty years later, they were shouting "global warming!" Neither were proven to exist. But that never stops the environists (environmentalists without the "mental"). When they couldn't back up claims of global warming or cooling, they just coined a new term: climate change.

If environists are so worried about climate change being caused by fossil fuels, why do they burn so much fuel jetting to so many global meetings? Why not just "Go to Meeting" by computer instead?

Until it was publicized, climate-change guru Al Gore's main mansion used more fossil fuel in a month that the rest of us use in a year. He has gas-burning vehicles, several mansions, and his own private jet. It's evidently okay for the elite to live and travel as they please, but we peons must curtail our energy usage to "save the planet."

Gore-The-Hypocrite sold his Current TV network to Al Jazeera for a reported $100 million profit even though the bulk of the purchase money came from the sale of fossil fuels. The main thing "green" about Gore and many environist leaders is the color of their money.

Although there are some souls who really believe humans are causing climate change, in reality it is about power and money. Gore and compadres have made millions from this issue. Scientists have gotten millions in research funding. Government agencies have gotten increased power and funding.

Government wants a new funding source -- carbon tax -- regardless of the fact that utility companies will only pass that tax along to we the customers. Follow the money.
