Comfort Home of Delta is closing as an assisted living facility. The smallest of three privately licensed assisted facilities serving Delta County, Comfort Home has been licensed for eight beds since March 2008. Owner Barry Singleton dedicated to retire and terminate facility operations effective Jan. 10.
"I wish to thank the residents and many families of Delta County for the opportunity to be of service for the past almost 10 years," Singleton said. A licensed special education teacher, he plans to take a short vacation before making a decision on future plans.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
