Community garden begins ninth season

The Cedaredge Community Gardens begins its ninth season this April. The board met in February, where changes to the membership structure were proposed and agreed.
To encourage new memberships, the board agreed to expand membership to include members from the lower Surface Creek area including zip code 81410.
New rates were also adopted to encourage family membership at 2 plots for $40. Low, fixed income plots will go for $18, and a limited number of plots are available as scholarships.
The garden will continue in its dedication of 2 plots per season for the Food Bank, and excess produce from members' plots is also often donated to the Food Bank.
Officers elected for 2017 are: Mary John, president; Ann Bristol, vice president, Polly Pulver, secretary; and Dea Jacobson, treasurer.
An educational meeting for the public about the garden over the years is planned as a future event. Watch for details.
