A crowd gathered for a reggae concert at Aspen Trails north of Cedaredge Saturday night rushed to the scene of a two-car collision on Highway 65. The accident occurred at about 7:05 p.m. and involved a northbound 2003 Toyota Highlander and a southbound 1986 Toyota 4Runner.

The Colorado State Patrol reports the Toyota Highlander slowed in the northbound lane to make a left turn into the driveway in front of the 4Runner. The 4Runner collided with the passenger side of the Highlander. The Highlander ran off the west side of the road, rotated clockwise one-quarter time and came to rest in the roadway facing west. None of the parties involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, and alcohol/drugs are not believed to be factors.

Cami Esser, 45, of Montrose, was the driver of the Highlander. She was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the 4Runner, Stacy Bates, 34, of Casper, Wyo., suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital. There were three passengers in her vehicle, all from Casper. Zach Bates, 36, was transported to St. Mary's with serious injuries. A 10-year-old female with moderate injuries was taken to DCMH. A 9-year-old male was flown to St. Mary's with serious injuries.

One helicopter landed at the scene of the accident; a second was reportedly dispatched to Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Delta County Ambulance District, Cedaredge firefighters, sheriff's deputies and Cedaredge Police assisted the Colorado State Patrol at the scene.
