I represented the Delta County 4-H Hotshots club at the Delta County 4-H Council meeting on Sept. 12. The meeting was held at the Delta County Courthouse. During the meeting, I was elected county council reporter, replacing Trey Hunt. As such, this is my first report to the Delta County Independent.
This meeting was primarily about the election of new officers. The following are the new officers:
Grady Simpson, president; Ellison Black, vice president; Charlie Perkins, secretary; Trey Hunt, treasurer; Drew Harris, reporter; Kaylee Simpson, historian; Grady Simpson and Charlie Perkins, senators; Drew Harris, alternate senator; and Amy Perkins and Bill Hunt, leader advisors
Other important information:
• 4-H week is Oct. 2-8. During this week, 4-H members are encouraged to promote 4-H throughout their communities.
• The Delta County 4-H Council made a presentation to the Delta County Commissioners on Monday, Oct. 3, thanking them for their continued support of the program. This was also an opportunity to encourage Delta County kids to join 4-H and have fun with the rest of us.
• Club members will be making posters to hang in schools promoting 4-H.
• 2016/2017 4-H enrollment opens in October. Contact the Delta County Extension Office for more information.
