County council 4-H report

The January meeting of Delta County 4-H Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Derek Johnson.
Pledges were led by Adam Sheldon. Minutes were dispensed. Charley Perkins gave the treasurer's report.
Discussion was held concerning the county fair. The schedule of events stayed the same as last year. For initial swine weigh-in this year the pigs have to be tagged in. Weighing them will be optional. Initial beef weigh-in will be Feb. 6 from 9 to 11 a.m. Each animal must have bill of sale and brand inspection. Enrollment deadline is Jan. 29. Discussion was held on the cost of camping for fair.
Grady, Ellison, Charley and Malykai gave a presentation on the Colorado leadership conference.
Discussion was held about the beef roast. The beef roast will be held March 6. Each 4-H member must sell five tickets, either child or adult. Whoever sells the most tickets will win a prize.
Discussion was held about Junior Market Livestock Field Days. Jackie Shea was wondering if Delta County could hold one like Montrose County.
Two Delta County 4-H members will be attending the leadership development conference, to be held in Denver Jan. 22-25.
Shooting Sports open house planning will be part of the discipline meetings.
The next Delta County Council meeting will be March 14, at the Maloney House in Hotchkiss. It will be club officer training.
