Delta County golf teams from Cedaredge and Delta competed at The Bridges and Cobble Creek in Montrose recently.
Montrose won the team title at The Bridges with a score of 217. Glen-Michael Mihavetz was the medalist with a 71.
Cedaredge finished with a 245 and Delta recorded a 252.
For Cedaredge, Peter Carlson led the way with a 78 followed by Duncan Campbell (83), Jacob Lewis (84), Matt Smelser (87) and Nate Stumpf (110).
Delta's Logan Wood carded a 79 to lead the Panthers. K.C. Carlson was six shots back at 85 and Kyle Mock used 88 strokes to navigate the course. Rowyn Carmichael shot a 92 and Matt Bohling shot 96 to complete the Panthers' scorecard numbers.
Montrose had a team total of 215 to win the team title at Cobble Creek on Thursday, Sept. 8. For the second straight day, Glen-Michael Mahavetz was the day's medalist with a round of 68.
Delta and Fruita tied for third in the team race with identical scores of 232. The Bruins finished the day with a 246.
Carlson and Cristian Hall claimed top honors on Delta's team with scores of 76. Blake Reiher finished the day with an 80, Carmichael had a 90 and Matt Bohling shot a 113.
Cedaredge was led by Carlson's 81 followed closely by Lewis' 82, Smelser's 83 and Campbell's 84. Stumpf finished the round with a 96.
The Panthers were in Durango for a pair of meets Sept. 13-14. Delta played the Hillcrest course on Sept. 13 with the team recording a score of 234. Individual scores included Wood with a 77, Hall with a 78, Blake Reiher with a 79 and Carlson finished with an 80.
At Dalton Ranch on Tuesday, Reiher paced the Panthers with an 80, Wood had an 83, Carlson an 84 and Hall shot an 88.
Members of Delta's junior varsity team competed at the Dos Rios Invitational in Gunnison on Sept. 15. The team finished at 299 with individual scores as follows; Rowyn Carmichael 87, Matthew Bohling 105, Ben Cooper 107 and Grant Freed 125.
The 3A Regional Tournament was hosted by Devil's Thumb Golf Club on Monday of this week. Results of that tournament will be published, along with pictures, in next week's edition of The Delta County Independent. State Golf is scheduled for Sept. 26-27.
