A civil suit filed against the Town of Paonia by former town clerk Barbara Peterson has been dismissed.
"We're very happy with the decision," said Paonia Mayor Charles Stewart.
According to documents filed in Colorado District Court, the suit was ordered dismissed on Friday, Sept. 9.
Peterson was hired as town clerk in 2003, and in March 2015, was dismissed. Peterson filed the suit on July 27, 2015, claming she was denied due process and wrongfully terminated from her job in violation of her civil rights.
Former town manager Jane Berry was also named a defendant by Peterson. On March 1, the court dismissed her from the suit.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
