After the recent installation of a cooking range and hood, the commercial kitchen at Crawford Town Hall is finally ready for use.

The facility was made possible by an anonymous donor, a grant from the Department of Local Affairs, and the balance of funds remaining following completion of Phase II of the remodel and renovation project, which included all of the indoor work, said Friends of Crawford Town Hall board members Susan Hansen and Cathy Cheatham.

Once the required licensing is received, the facility will be available for rent to the public.

For those wanting to rent, there are rules and regulations to follow. For events such as class reunions, weddings and other parties being held at Town Hall, food can be prepared onsite "as long as it's not catered," said Hansen. Professional caterers and those preparing food for sale under the state Cottage Foods laws event must comply with state and local licensing regulations.

A $75 per day rental fee applies, and a $125 deposit, refundable upon cleaning and an inspection, will be required, and renters must provide their own dishes and eating utensils.

"I think that there's a need to know that this resource is here," said Hansen.

In the meantime, they still have a wish list that includes a freezer, char-broiler and convection ovens, said Cheatham. All of the hook-ups are already in place and they just need to be connected. The estimated cost for the additional equipment is about $5,000-$6,000, and donations are gratefully accepted. In addition, pots and pans are still needed, said Hansen.
