Crawford Town Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. tonight, at Crawford Town Hall.
It's an election year and three, four-year council seats, held by Wanda Gofforth, Larry Kontour and Hetty Todd, and a two-year term held by Gill Saunders are up for election. The town will be electing a new mayor since Susie Steckel's term is also up. Steckel has stated she will not seek re-election.
Petitions are available at Town Hall. Submission deadline is Monday, Jan. 25. Petitioners must have been a resident of Crawford for a minimum of one year. Incumbents Gill Saunders and Wanda Gofforth have submitted petitions, as have residents Carl Page, Tammy Broughton and Jay Ziegler.
The biggest topic at the Jan. 9 council meeting was finding a new town clerk. Trustees reviewed applications for the position and conducted interviews on Jan. 13. The town is targeting Feb. 1 as a starting date.
