The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has awarded Ridgway Valley Enterprises a project to replace an existing undersized and deteriorating culvert on Colorado Highway 348 with an 8x10-foot concrete box. The culvert is located at mile point 6.64, just south of the Delta/Montrose County line. Work to be performed includes temporary culverts, culvert replacement, grading, paving, striping, erosion control and temporary traffic control. Anticipated completion of the project is early September.
Traffic will be detoured around the project site 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the duration of construction. The detour route will be Banner Road to 1500 Road (Delta County)/5400 Road (Montrose County) to B Road. As an alternate route, vehicles travelling southbound from Delta may choose to travel west on D Road to 1500/5400 Road and then take Banner Road to Hwy 348, while northbound travelers may chose to remain on 5400/1500 Road to D Road, then turn left on D Road to Highway 348. Local traffic will still be able to access north and south of the culvert replacement. Work hours will be generally 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. For details, call 970-596-6099.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
