Dennis and Nancy Doerer announce the sale and transfer of ownership of the Delta Dairy Queen at 240 A N. Palmer.
The Doerers started the Delta franchise 20 years ago in 1998.
"It has been a great business and a pure joy serving our local Delta customers," the Doerers said. "We have had hundreds of employees -- mostly teenagers with Delta Dairy Queen being their first jobs. It was amazing watching the young teenagers grow into responsible employees."
The sale of the Delta Dairy Queen was effective March 1. The new franchise owners are Gregg Gilfillan, Pete Simms and Bill Sladek.
Gregg Gilfillan has been in DQ seven years. He started in high school working part-time. Gilfillan worked his way up to shift leader then to operation manager and now he will be operations partner.
Pete Simms started with IDQ corporate in 1992 and worked as a senior field consultant till 2006 when he left IDQ to become a DQ franchise operator.
Bill Sladek started with IDQ corporate in 1991 and left as an IDQ franchise salesman in 1999 and then became a franchise operator.
"Again we would like to thank all our loyal customers for their support," said the Doerers. "We're very proud to be a part of this community. A huge thank you to the current staff of DQ who were a great help during this transition. We want to ensure everyone that Delta DQ will be in great hands with the new owners and that the operation is continuing with all the same great products and employees."
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
