Paonia resident Darrell Glen Kendall died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 84.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia.
Mr. Kendall was born in Hugo March 16, 1932, to Ira and Maggie (Maxwell) Kendall. The family moved to the North Fork area in 1944 and Mr. Kendall lived on the Western Slope the rest of his life.
On Dec. 24, 1951, he married Delores "Butch" Wood in Paonia. He worked as a miner, ranch hand and a truck driver.
Mr. Kendall enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with horses and mules, and being in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Butch Kendall; his children, Glenna (Adrian) Corbett of Fillmore, Utah, Gene (Liz) Kendall of Meeker, Larry Kendall of Paonia, Ron Kendall of Hotchkiss, Lanny (Jill) Kendall of Eckert, and Sylvia (Paul) Morton of Virginia, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee and Delbert; and his sisters, Ethel, Frances and Eunice.
He was preceded in death by nine siblings.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
