David Lawrence Campbell, formerly of Delta, died April 20, 2017, in Green Valley (Ariz.) Hospital. He was 86.
Memorial services are planned for mid-August at the Fairview Cemetery in Salida.
He was born in Salida on May 2, 1930, to Colin and Luella (Sage) Campbell. He graduated from Salida High School and served in the U.S. Navy before moving to Gunnison, where he married Helen Hazard, raised three children and joined his parents in the creation of the Campbell Cattle Company.
Mr. Campbell was a successful rancher for over 50 years ranging from Salida, Gunnison, Montrose and Cedaredge to Prescott, Ariz., and then finally back to Delta. He retired in 2014 to live his final years with his daughter, Cheri Raftery, in Green Valley, Ariz.
He is survived by his three children, Cheri Raftery, Patricia McClurg and William Campbell; seven grandchildren, Will, Heather and Sara Raftery, Jody Urbanczyk, Amanda Fletcher, and Jennifer and Joseph Campbell; five great-grandchildren; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and siblings, Helen Drake and Norman Campbell.
