David Fabula

Deacon David C. Fabula died at his home Nov. 12, 2015, a few days before his 61st birthday. He suffered a serious stroke in the spring of 2015.

He was born Nov. 14, 1954. He spent the first 39 years of his life in California.

He moved with his wife and three sons to Delta where he was deacon at St. Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church for 20 years. He also served in the diaconate at the regional level.

The Fabulas purchased a farm where they raised animals and cultivated several plots of land. Mr. Fabula worked in plumbing and construction, building and renovating houses.

He served as a leader in youth camps, in church construction projects in Alaska and in building a substantial part of the Monastery of the Holy Archangel Michael in CaƱones, N.M.

Mr. Fabula enjoyed the Orthodox faith, helping people and shopping at Delta Hardware.

He is survived by his mother, Connie Fabula of La Jolla, Calif.; two sisters, Lisa Fabula of La Jolla, Calif., and Christina Fabula of Fort Bragg, Calif.; his wife of 38 years, Janet Fabula; three sons, Nicholas (Mira Emmanuel) Fabula of Seattle, Wash., Joseph Fabula of Delta and Jesse (Christina) Fabula of Grand Junction; and two grandsons, Jeremiah and Jonah plus one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Fabula.

A Panikhida was held Tuesday, Nov. 17, followed by the reading of the Psalter. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 298 Bert Street, Delta, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, followed by a memorial meal.
