The choice for administrator for the Town of Paonia was whittled down again after interim town administrator Dan Dean accepted the position of administrator for the City of Kimball, Neb., last week. Dean was appointed interim town manager in September following the resignation of Jane Berry. Dean could not be reached for comment.
Three candidates, Kenneth Knight of Marlin, Texas; Larry Lorentzen of Wellington, Colo.; and Evie Racette, from Scottsdale, Ariz., are still being considered for the position.
Following a two-hour executive session during a Dec. 21 special meeting, the board of trustees and town attorney David Marek went into executive session for about two hours to discuss personnel matters regarding the employment of a new town administrator. Mayor Charles Stewart announced at the end of the meeting that no final decision was made. Stewart said that due to the fact the issue was discussed in executive session, he can't say where the board is on making the decision, but that they are working to find the candidate who is the best fit at this time. "Obviously we are continuing to look for an administrator," said Stewart.
The next time the issue is expected to come before the public will be at the at the regularly-scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
