Delta was in a thrilling 3-2 match against Coal Ridge on Sept. 24. That win left the Panthers on top of the 3A WSL with a 3-0 and 10-3 record. The Titans slipped to second with records of 4-1 and 6-2.
Last week's foe, Olathe, is 0-1 and 1-8 overall in the latest WSL standings. Delta was more than prepared for the Pirates and took care of business by winning the match in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-12 and 25-15.
Senior Emily Baier continues her assault on kills' numbers with 12 against the Pirates. Makayla Mills had a superb game as well with another seven kills.
At the service line Baier, and junior Lexi Quinn, recorded five aces apiece and Mills added another three.
Digs' leaders for Delta included Shelbi Ledesma with 15 and Baier with 13. Harlee Roberts and Mills finished with seven digs each and Emily Nortnik had six. Nortnik was the leading assists leader for the Panthers with 22.
Delta is ranked 12th in Class 3A volleyball and heads the list of WSL teams in the standings.
A couple of area teams, Bayfield and Coal Ridge, are also listed on the Class 3A list of top 20 teams released as of this week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
