Jason Kaighn was a bright spot for Delta's boys last Saturday at the Delta Invitational track and field meet. Kaighn, a junior at DHS, won the 800-meter run by almost seven seconds over Telluride's Jaden Evans. Kaighn's win was the lone first-place finish for Delta on Saturday.

Freshman Syni Lujan ran the 1600 in 2:25.30 to place fourth, giving the Panthers 15 points in the event.

Senior Kory Mills earned 16 points for the Panthers with second-place finishes in the shot put and discus events. Mills tossed the shot 42-09 and spun the discus 136-11.

The Panthers' 1600 meter relay team gave Delta its third second place finish with a time of 3:44.71 in the race.

Wade Stinson's 10:28.91 in the 3200-meter run was good for third place. The Panthers' 800-meter relay team (1:42.22) and the 3200-meter relay team (9:13.69) also had third- place finishes for Delta.

Joining Lujan with a fourth-place finish was Delta's 400-meter relay team with a time of 48.38 and Ben Sandoval in the 300-meter hurdle race.

Delta had four seventh-place finishes, including Reyes Meraz (100m dash) and long jump, John Ames (3200m run) and Stephen Davignon in discus.

Eighth-place finishes went to Ames (1600m run), Enrique Cruz (400m dash) and Sandoval in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Delta will join the rest of the Delta County schools who are scheduled to participate in the Hotchkiss Invitational this Saturday.
