Delta does the Anna Banana

Delta's cross country teams were entered in last Saturday's Anna Banana Memorial Wildcat Invitational. Delta's boys scored 270 points and placed ninth out of 18 teams entered. Montrose won the team title with 80 points and the Indians' Ian Meek was the boys' titlist with a time of 15:39.70.

The girls' team title went to Battle Mountain with 27 points.

John Ames had a goal of breaking 17 minutes in the race and enjoyed accomplishing that goal on Saturday with his time of 16:59.30 as Delta's first finisher in the race (29th). Garrison Paniagua was next (31st), followed by Shad Lewis (71st), and Logan Freed (85th) and David Husmann (91st).

There were 168 contestants in the boys race.

Anha Richards was Delta's first girl to cross the finish line (49th). The rest of Delta's scorers included Hana Hollenbeck (66), Sam Cassel (116th), Amanda Fuller (118th) and Summer Hood (119th).

A total of 136 runners took part in the girls race.
