Delta Emblem Club supports thrift stores, kids' reading

Delta Emblem Club met at the Delta Elks Lodge Sept. 28 with president Diane Martinez officiating.

The Delta Emblem Club has been active with the concession stand at Elks bingo on Thursday nights and also with a lot of community service collections, consisting of cancelled stamps, education box tops, glasses, pop tabs, card tops and unused cards. Clothing and household items have been donated to Salvation Army, Raising Hope and Abraham Connection. Literacy committee asked that the club donate money to Lincoln and Garnet Mesa elementary schools for new books for the children and the library. It was moved to donate $250 to each school for this program. The next big project for the Emblem Club is the annual bazaar and once-loved items sale. The bazaar will be Nov. 6 and 7 in Westminster Hall at 4th and Meeker. Please mark your calendars and come visit us.

A new member application was read; the new member will be initiated at our October meeting.

The next state meeting for Emblem Club was Oct. 10 in Montrose. Several members planned to attend.
