Delta's boys had several top three finishes, which helped the Panthers score 58 points, and place fifth, at last Friday's Montrose Invitational.

For the girls, another superb day from Lily Lockhart, Kaley St. Peter and Emily Baier helped the Panthers score 87 points and place second in the team race.

No records were broken but the Panthers competed well in less than admirable conditions.

Montrose won both the boys and girls team titles with 148 and 160 points respectively.

A couple of second place finishes aided the Panthers' point production. A.B. Ontiveros' 11.5 earned him second place at Friday's Montrose Invitational. Delta's 800m relay team (Jason Kaighn, David Mora, Ontiveros and Jacob Wear) completed the race with a PR time of 1:33.56 to place second.

Individual third place points were earned by John Ames in the 3200m run (10:30 - a PR by 11 seconds) and Beau Byers in triple jump (39-6.75).

The Panthers' 4x100 (Reyes Meraz, David Mora, Tanner Webster, Ontiveros - new PR 45.23) and the 4x400 relay team (Byers, Logan Freed, Kaighn and Wear), with a PR time of 3:35.56, also finished third in Montrose.

Wear also ran the 400m dash and finished fourth with his time of 51.63.

Delta had three runners place in the top eight in Friday's 800m run. Tre Johnson set a new PR with his fifth place time of 2:08.1. Mark Jones placed sixth with a new PR time of 2:08.13 and Freed's time of 2:08.30 also gave him a new PR.

The Panther boys 800 sprint medley relay finished in eighth place.

A reported school record (8:34).

In usual fashion, though somewhat delayed in the discus, Lockhart was a run-away winner in the shot put with a throw of 40-11.75 and a 130-4 throw in discus. Lockhart trailed entering discus finals by nearly two feet.

Kaley St. Peter took a spill in the 300 hurdles race to finish sixth (54.30) and might have been a contender for the title in that race. St. Peter was fourth in the 100 hurdles and limped to the long jump pit later in the day where she won with a jump of 15-4. Madi Gieck scored fourth place points in long jump with a leap of 14-6.25.

Delta's fourth first place win came from Emily Baier in triple jump, whose 32-11.5, topped the field.

Freshman Remi Baldwin placed in the hurdle events with a third place finish in the 300 hurdles and a seventh (PR, 17.95) in the 100 hurdles.

In high jump, the Panthers welcomed back Emily Nortnik, who had missed the entire season up to the Montrose meet due to a concussion received in basketball playoffs. Sara Geddes and Nortnik cleared 4-8 with Geddes earning fourth place and Nortnik fifth.

The Panthers' 800m relay team finished fifth in a time of 1:55.07.

Beki Atchley competed in the 200 (PR, 2747) and 400m dashes where she placed sixth in the 400 and seventh in the 200 meters.

Delta's 1600m relay team (Atchley, Ahna Richards, Hana Hollenbeck and Katalina Rodriguez) set a new PR with its time of 4:34.44, and finished sixth in competition.

Jaspe Arias (3200m) and Reagan Clay (shot put) were seventh in their respective events.

An eighth place finish was earned by Delta's 3200m relay team.

Area teams are at Stocker Stadium for league meets on May 4 and 5.
