Delta has been a great place to raise kids

By Julie Mulford

Dear Editor:

Years ago, before Vally and I had any children, we took a couple of days away from college and explored western Colorado. We stopped for the night in Delta, both having the thought that this would be a cool place to live. Years later, when our oldest was in eighth grade, we made those long ago thoughts a reality. We moved our family to Delta -- the rationale being that we wanted to get away from the city, settle down a bit and be able to give our children the advantage of growing up in a rural area. We have never regretted that decision.

Now that each child has graduated from high school, Vally and I find ourselves ready to move on to a different adventure. I feel that something would be amiss if I did not somehow express my thanks to everyone that helped us to raise our children. When I think of all of the church leaders, church friends, school teachers/staff, school friends, parents, work associates and community associates I get emotional as I realize we could not have done this without all of that support. Was it always perfect? No, not even close. However, even the negative experiences gave us the chance to live through a "life lesson" teaching moment with a child. I know that often, those moments are even more valuable than any ABC 123 lesson taught in school.

Words cannot express how full my heart is and how appreciative I am. Thank you all, and God bless. Goodbye Delta.
