Delta High School Student Council, the Delta Police Department and Delta Food Pantry are teaming up for a food and toy drive as part of the school's Spirit of Giving campaign that will take place through the month of November. The campaign kicks off with a tribute to local Law Enforcement during the Nov. 5 regional volleyball playoff game.
During the month of November, STUCO will be organizing various class competitions as wells as friendly rivalry among DMS, Lincoln, Garnet and others to collect as many food items and toys as possible. In early December, Delta Police officers and DHS Student Council elf teams will gleefully deliver a handful of holiday care packages to local families, that will include food, toys and other personalized items. The remaining bulk of donations will go to the Delta Food Panty and other area charities for the holidays.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
