Delta High School Student Council, the Delta Police Department and Delta Food Pantry are teaming up for a food and toy drive as part of the school's Spirit of Giving campaign that will take place through the month of November. The campaign kicks off with a tribute to local Law Enforcement during the Nov. 5 regional volleyball playoff game.
During the month of November, STUCO will be organizing various class competitions as wells as friendly rivalry among DMS, Lincoln, Garnet and others to collect as many food items and toys as possible. In early December, Delta Police officers and DHS Student Council elf teams will gleefully deliver a handful of holiday care packages to local families, that will include food, toys and other personalized items. The remaining bulk of donations will go to the Delta Food Panty and other area charities for the holidays.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
