July 12:

Michael D. Miller, 18, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged driving a motor vehicle while license revoked.

Mary M. Hartwig, 74, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving after being involved in a vehicle versus bicycle/pedestrian crash on 4th Street at Grand Street. No serious injuries were reported or observed. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

July 13:

Lea M. Trickel, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed on three warrants with a total of $5,500 in bonds.

Sheila L. Schweikhard, 26, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $250 bond.

July 14:

Tierra M. Higgs, 21, of Delta was arrested and jailed on two warrants with a total of $600 bond.

Brandon L. Riggs, 22, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged vehicular eluding and reckless driving.

July 15:

Ralph J. Primus, 72, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged disorderly conduct.

July 16:

Christopher L. Pettay, 23, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged DUI and DUI per se.

Derrick L. West, 21, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged unlawful acts.

Derrick L. West, 21, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged disorderly conduct.

July 17:

Rene R. Silva, 18, of Olathe was arrested and jailed for alleged speeding 10-19 over, DUI and DUI per se.

Citations: 10 tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, five for speeding.

Please remember: All criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.

July 11:

A break-in was reported at the office of the Adobe Buttes Landfill.

A woman living on Cedar Mesa Road outside of Cedaredge reported some dogs had come onto her property and killed her chickens. She had one of the dogs trapped in her garage.

An Eckert resident reported that a dog was harassing his livestock. He said he did not want to have to shoot the dog, but did not know how to contact the dog's owner.

July 12:

Deputies were asked to check the welfare of a female teenager who was reportedly suicidal.

A traffic accident was reported on Highway 92 outside of Crawford at about 8:30 a.m. A white cargo truck driven by Julio Nieto collided with a Subaru Outback driven by Greg Knox. Knox received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS personnel. The Colorado State Patrol arrived to take over the investigation.

At about 1:30 p.m., deputies were called to the scene of an accident on Highway 133 outside of Hotchkiss. Galina Miller and her 3-month-old baby escaped serious injury. The Colorado State Patrol arrived to take over the investigation.

July 13:

A Delta area woman received an anonymous note threatening to dispose of her dog if it didn't stop barking. The woman said the animal is a guardian dog for her alpacas.

A one-vehicle rollover was reported on Foothills Road, Paonia, at about 6 p.m. Jordan Anderson, 19, of Delta told sheriff's deputies he hit some gravel on the shoulder of the road, overcorrected and rolled his vehicle onto its top. He escaped serious injury.

A Delta area man reported he returned to his home on Graff Road to find the screens on his windows missing. A .22 pistol was the only item stolen.

July 14:

Cedaredge firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to a fire at 1888 NW Sage Avenue, Cedaredge, shortly after midnight. A shed owned by James Hillis was destroyed, along with the contents that included an older Ford tractor, baling twine and saddles. It's believed the tractor overheated, possibly due to a wiring malfunction, causing the fire. Hillis estimated his loss at $9,000.

July 12:

A utility trailer being towed to the landfill by Leonard Sinski caught fire on Highway 92 near Austin. Sinski saw smoke coming from the trailer and was able to pull his vehicle to the side of the road, unhook the trailer and call for help. When Delta firefighters arrived on the scene, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is unclear.

Mary Finnegan, 82, was reported missing by her husband, who lives on 1200 Road in Delta. Mary was last seen at the bowling alley in Montrose around noon July 15. She was driving a silver Mercury sedan with Colorado license plates 814VRB. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 874-8810.

July 16:

A fire was reported at 4346 Peach Valley Road around 7 p.m. Deputies determined Larry Linn was burning trash in a burn barrel when sparks ignited the brush nearby. The fire quickly spread to a nearby horse trailer. Linn told deputies he was house sitting for his mother, Joan Tunget. Deputies informed him he was not only illegally burning trash, he was burning on a red flag day. A summons was issued.

July 17:

Michael Harris was seriously injured when he was ejected from a 1979 Jeep Wrangler being towed by Bradley Wilkins of Grand Junction. The two individuals were traveling on Highway 50 outside of Delta when the Jeep rolled, winding up on its side. Harris was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital, then transferred to St. Mary's. Wilkins was not injured.
