The Delta Panthers have achieved many goals this golf season. One goal was to win a tournament, and that happened at a recent golf tournament in Gunnison.
Delta scored 239 points to win the team title and had a medalist in the top three.
Christian Hall shot a 77 in Gunnison and finished third in the individual medalist race. Palisade's Nate Woll fired a 74 and Moffat County's Mike Bingham shot a 76.
To round out Delta's 239, Blake Reiher had an 80 and Logan Wood an 82.
On a bigger scale, the Panthers are sending two individuals to state. Logan Wood carded a 79, and Blake Reiher had an 80 in regional play in Steamboat Springs on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The two Delta players are on a list of nine other golfers who also made the cut.
Durango won the team title at 223, with Steamboat Springs placing second with an identical 223.
Montrose was third (242) and Delta fourth at 247. Eagle Valley placed fifth with a 253.
Delta is a member of Class 4A division and will play its state competition in Longmont, Oct. 5-6.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
