Delta High School's soccer team played in three contests last week, beginning with the Montrose Indians, on March 22. Montrose was able to score a lone goal in overtime to defeat the Panthers 1-0.
The Panthers were scheduled to be on the road to Summit on March 25 but the game was postponed due to snow.
Delta's third match was with Battle Mountain on March 26, in Edwards. The Huskies handed Delta its fifth loss of the season, 2-0. Delta is 1-5 overall on the season.
Indians 1, Delta 0-OT
For 80 minutes neither team was able to get the ball into the nets for a score. It took an extra period for the Indians to score the winning goal.
The Panthers had six shots on goal in the game with Cassie Waters and Emilee Isaman taking two each and Jade Gummo and Makayla Mills trying once each.
Delta freshman goalie Kaley St. Peter had 21 shots directed her way with only one making its way into the net.
Huskies 2, Delta 0
Delta's offense was ineffective against the Huskies' defense with the difference in the game being two goals, one in each of the two halves, scored by sophomore Avery Weaver. Audrey Teague and Emily Cope provided assists for Weaver in the win.
Delta faces Palisade on March 31 in Delta at 4 p.m. On April 5, Grand Valley is in town for another 4 p.m. contest.
