Delta's Panthers picked up a pair of wins in softball with a sweep of doubleheader action in Durango. The Panthers won the first game 12-5 and scored a 16-1 decision in game two. The wins leave Delta at 0-1 in 3A WSL play and 3-5 overall.

The trip to Durango wasn't too stressful for the Panthers. Two runs in the first inning, four in the second and another two in the third period enabled Delta to post an 8-0 lead before the Demons came to bat in the bottom of the third.

Durango plated five big runs in the third and trimmed Delta's lead to 8-5.

Neither team had much offense for the next three innings. The Panthers found their bats, and used them effectively, in the seventh inning. A four-run surge provided the game's final runs allowing the Panthers to win by a 12-5 decision.

Lily Lockhart and Jenna Sutliff blasted home runs for the Panthers and added doubles to go with their long balls. Lockhart scored two runs and finished the game with four RBIs. Sutliff was 3-4 and scored four times while collecting two RBIs.

Megan Sandoval had two hits, both doubles and a pair of RBIs. Sami Lane was 2-5 for the Panthers.

Lockhart was the winning pitcher for Delta. She went 4.2 innings giving up one hit, four walks and struck out six batters.

In game two with the Demons, Delta needed an 11-run fourth inning to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Both teams scored once in the first inning with Delta moving ahead after a 2-0 second inning. Another two runs in the third made it 5-1 for Delta and the game-ending fourth inning produced 11 more runs for the Panthers. Delta had 16 runs on 12 hits.

For the second game in a row, Sutliff sent the ball over the fence for a home run and finished the game with four hits and four RBIs. She also scored three times.

Lockhart was 3-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Sandoval went 2-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Lockhart evened her season record on the mound at 3-3 with the win in game two.
