Thirty-three swimmers are keeping the water at BHRC in constant motion during practice times for Delta High School's swim team. The participating team members are from all four Delta County schools.

Head coach Karoline Roome is excited for the 2017-18 season as 17 of the team's roster is a junior or below. Some of those have already shown great potential in early practice sessions and in recent competition.

Roome will have reliable help from assistant coach Linda Hollinghead when there is need for coaching strategies.

The bulk of this year's team is from Delta (16) with eight traveling from Cedaredge, five from Hotchkiss and four making the longer journey from Paonia for practice sessions.

Swimmers on the roster from Delta include Hailee Ruble (Fr. 100 back and 100 fly), Somer Cannon (So. 100 and 200 free), Kaiti Neely (So. 100 fly), Hannah Philman (So. 50 and 100 free), Ashley Lahoe (So. 100 free), Kiarrah Schotten (So. 50 free and 100 back), Maddie Sandridge (So.), Kalinn Komives (So. free style), Haylee Chamblin (So. free), Taylor Bess (Sr. 100 back and 50 free), Kendra Hillman (Sr. 100 breast and 200 IM), Rosie Komives (Sr. 100 free), Lauryn Metcalf (Sr. 50 and 100 free), Sami Wollert (Sr. 100 back and 100 fly), Rosalea Gallegos (So. free) and Paige Murry (Sr. free).

This year's Cedaredge contingent of swimmers includes Olivia McCrackin (Sr. 100 back and 100 breast), Sophia McCrackin (Fr. breast and free), Emma Puruis (Fr.), Kamryn Spiker (Sr. fly and free), Alaiha Goffbauer (Fr. free), Summer Young (So. free and back), Abby Williams (Jr. free and back) and Niala Stair (free).

The five Hotchkiss swimmers are Nadia Hill (So. free), Sydne West (So. free), Amber Mattler (Jr. free), Morgan Miller (Sr. free) and Jordan Tamayo (Sr. fly and free).

Paonia Eagles on the squad include Abby Reedy (Fr. free), Gracie Deck (So. free and back) Lene Meneley (Sr. free) and Brooke Hillman (Sr. free).

Coach Roome sees seniors Kendra Hillman and Olivia McCrackin as swimmers who could be Delta's top swimmers this season.

"This is a year we have new swimmers on the team. I see great potential in this team. They will do well for the season," noted Roome.
