Last week's soccer action was played on Delta's Cottonwood Fields with Central High School and Colorado Rocky Mountain School visiting the North Delta fields.
Delta faced Central's Warriors on Sept. 11 and scored a 4-0 non-conference win. The Warriors, out of the 5A/4A Southwestern League, were held in check by a strong, and aggressive, Delta defense.
The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at the break.
A constant defensive pressure and offensive execution led to three goals in the second half to produce the 4-0 win for Delta.
Delta goals came from Martin Corral (So), Hayden Blanks (Fr), Danny Mendoza (Sr) and Jesus Saldivar (So). Corral, Bradley Davis (Sr), Mendoza and Marcos Edmondson (Sr) had assists in the contest.
Sophomore Felipe Bedoy was the goalkeeper for Delta.
League foe CRMS proved to be no match for Delta's speed and aggressive play in a 7-0 loss on Sept. 12. Davis and Mendoza netted two goals apiece for the Panthers while teammates Corral, Jason Holiman (Jr) and Brandon Harper (Sr) had single goal games.
Delta scored three times in the first half and finished with four more goals in second half play.
Corral leads the Panthers in scoring with eight goals.
Delta leads the 3A WSL with its 1-0-0 league mark and 6-1-0 overall record.
The Panthers are in Parachute this Saturday to play Grand Valley.
