Dewey Isaac King died June 1, 2017, in Denver. He was 76.
Burial will take place at 1 p.m. June 22 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.
Mr. King was born on April 26, 1941, to Isaac Wells and Melva (Spaulding) King in Winnemucca, Nev.
He grew up in Delta and joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduating from high school in 1959. He married Elaine Joyce Bennett on Nov. 17, 1967, in Nucla.
Mr. King spent most of his life working in the mines from the uranium mill in Uravan to coal mines such as Mid-Continent Resources, Deserado Coal, Powderhorn and 20-Mile. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and exploring back roads in his Jeep.
He is survived by his daughter, Kendra King of Portland, Ore.; a sister, June (Michael Sr.) Knob of Delta; a nephew, Mike Knob Jr. of Cedaredge; and three grandchildren, John, Michael and Joseph Simmons of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Shellia; granddaughter, Cassie; sisters, Dolly (Peter) Chamblin and Donna Mae Peters; and a brother, Michael King.
