Delta High School made the long trek to Pagosa Springs last Friday and was rewarded for its effort with a 42-0 shutout over the Pirates. A running clock was initiated early in the fourth quarter as the Panthers picked up their third win of the season against two setbacks (Durango and Palisade).

Delta is 1-0 in the 2A Intermountain League and shares the same record with Bayfield and Alamosa.

Gunnison, Pagosa Springs and Cortez all sport 0-1 league marks. Gunnison is 2-3 overall while Pagosa Springs and Cortez are 1-4 overall.

Delta had three players who combined to score six touchdowns in the win. Tristan Brown was the top point-producer with three touchdowns followed by Damon Jensen's two scores and Kole Roberts one six-pointer.

All six extra points came off the foot of AB Ontiveros to make the final count of 42-0.

Colton Galvin returned an interception for 10 yards on defense.

The Panthers recorded 42 tackles in the contest with Galvin, Josh Reeder, Jacob Wear and Gerardo Munis making four tackles each. Brown led the team with his six tackles.

Brown set the Pirates' offense back six yards with a sack of the Pagosa Springs' quarterback and Cameron Schaal recovered one fumble for the defense. Delta faces Alamosa this Friday at Panther Stadium. Game time is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
