The Hotchkiss Bulldogs increased their winning streak to six games following weekend basketball wins over West Grand and North Park.

In Friday's 71-47 conference win over West Grand, the Mustangs came out strong in the first half, leaving Hotchkiss with a narrow one-point lead heading into the second half. West Grand trailed by five going into the final period and was outscored by 19 points in the final minutes of the game.

In the first period Hotchkiss took an early 9-0 lead shooting from the three-point line. Junior Sam Rodriguez opened the game with two first-quarter threes, and scored the remaining 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second half. Gabe Rodriguez and Braxton Trujillo each added 13 points, and Zach Allen scored 12. Eli Patrick, Jonathan Gonzalez and the Eli trio, Eli Kirk, Eli Patrick and Eli Sawarzky, combined for 13 points.

In their non-conference win over North Park the Dogs held the Wildcats to single-digit scores in all four quarters for a 64-24 win.

The game allowed the bench to get on the floor. Rodriquez was again high scorer with 14 points, with Mario Espinoza contributing 13. Gonzalez, Kirk, Sawarzky, Allen, Gabe Rodriguez, Chandler Widner and Jacob Stucker all added to the final score.

Hotchkiss will face Vail Christian (8-9 overall, 8-3 2A District 5) Friday at Edwards. The Saints are fifth in district standings with an 8-9 overall and 8-3 district record.
