Donald Morrow

Donald Arlo Morrow of Paonia died April 28, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 90.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia with James Gall officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted by Wilson Head American Legion #97 and UMWA #6417 will officiate.

Mr. Morrow was born on March 25, 1927, to Arlo and Anne (Arnott) Morrow in Crested Butte. He spent his childhood in Crested Butte and Paonia, where he graduated from high school.

After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Navy.

On June 25, 1955, he married Evelyn Ann Pobirk in Paonia.

He worked for U.S. Steel for 38 years. He was a member of the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge, Wilson Head American Legion and UMWA. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Ann Morrow of Paonia; two sons, Daniel Morrow of Sand Point, Idaho, and Mike (Tammy) Morrow of CaƱon City; daughter, Dona (Daryl) Valencich of Trinidad; a sister, Carol Emmons of Grand Junction; a brother, Norman (Kathleen) Morrow of Cedaredge; an honorary daughter, Jyl Voss of Denver; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Pam) Morrow, Jessica (Carl) Morrow, Caleb Morrow, Kelsey (Bryce) Morrow-Thorstad, Sara (Joe) Valencich, Rachel Valencich and Katie Valencich; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy; and one grandson, Travis.
