Donald Dennis Tunget died March 18, 2016, at his home in Olathe. He was 68.
He was born in Montrose Jan. 21, 1948, to Evelyn (Pettis) and Chester Tunget. When he was 18 months old, the family moved to Olathe. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1967.
He married Mary Alice Rogers in 1968.
Mr. Tunget served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until 1970. He was sick when he returned home and his health continued to decline.
He enjoyed farm life with his family when he was growing up, traveling, returning home, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, gardening, woodcarving, tying fishing flies, reading about local history and loving and supporting his family.
Mr. Tunget is survived by his wife; his children, Eric (Joan) Tunget, Richard (Kelly) Tunget, Dennis (Kimberly) Tunget and Alice (Davy) Johns-ton; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Ethan, Jacob, Morgan, Susan and Erin; several stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Arnold (Ellie) Tunget.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lloyd Tunget.
A funeral service was held March 24 at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service with military honors followed at Olathe Cemetery.
Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory in Montrose handled the arrangements.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
