Lifetime Delta resident Dorothy M. Smith died Feb. 20, 2018, at Four Corners Health Care in Durango. She was 93.
Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with James Gall officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.
Dorothy Mae Roberts was born in Chandler, Okla., July 19, 1924, to Grant and Arabell (Thomas) Roberts. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Chandler, Okla., Austin, Colo., and Delta.
On April 19, 1942, she married Eugene Smith in Delta. The couple shared 64 years of marriage before his death in 2006.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed cooking, gardening, arts, crafts and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Smith of Pflugerville, Texas; daughter, Pamela (Bill) Olson of Bloomfield, N.M.; sisters, Glendola Johnston of Cedaredge and Pauline Shoup of Lamar; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Donna Hanson and Gena Smith.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
