DPD searches net drug arrests

On Aug. 15, officers of the Delta Police Department responded to a residence on 1600 Road to assist Child Protective Services with the removal of children from the home. The response resulted in the Delta Police Department seeking a search warrant on the residence.

The search, conducted with the assistance of the Delta County Sheriff's Office, resulted in the seizure of more than one gram of suspected methamphetamine. Ileen Jean Slagg, 32, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of an illegal/dangerous weapon.

On Aug. 16, officers of the Delta Police Department responded to and conducted an investigation of a burglary which resulted in David Andrew Smith, 30, of Grand Junction being arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $500 bond. A maroon 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was seized during the investigation. A search warrant was granted for a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 15 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately two pounds of marijuana and materials commonly associated with the packaging and distribution of illegal drugs. This case remains under investigation with additional charges pending.
