DT Men's Leagues wind down

Devil's Thumb Senior Men's and Men's League play is winding down for the summer. Results from both the Senior's and Men's League play were recently made available.
Both leagues play on Mondays with the Seniors playing 18 holes and Men's League players scoring on nine-hole rounds.
Gross play for Senior Men's on Aug. 7 showed Ray Tyler edging Craig Lund with a score of 77 with Lund's 80, three strokes shy of the day's top score.
In net play there were three linksters who recorded identical rounds of 69. Jim Timmerwilke, Lonnie Savage and Dennis Phillips all turned in scorecards with the same number of strokes for 18 holes.
Men's League play on Aug. 7 featured another day of close competition.
The top gross score of the day was only three strokes better than second place and third place was just another two strokes off the winning score. Craig Lund recorded the winning score of 36 while Mike Savarro finished with a 39 and Cal Letey had a 41.
Net play in Men's League play was equally close with Ronnie Smith shooting a 29 to win. Chuck Vincent was one stroke off at 30 and Dan Burke placed third with his 31.
Competition for closest to the pin on number 14 and 17 came down to Gary Simpson's 9'2" on 14 and Leland Chadwick's shot on 17 which stopped at 15'5" from the pin.
Women's league play at "The Thumb" is also coming to an end. Results from Ladies Club championship play will be forthcoming.
