Edith Alaine Davis died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at her home in Delta. She was 89.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Edith Alaine Rice was born in Nucla April 21, 1927, to Jim and Rosalie (Lehman) Rice. She spent her childhood and attended school in Nucla, graduating from Nucla High School.
On July 25, 1945, she married Buford Davis of Delta in Durango. He died in 1975.
She enjoyed working on the cattle ranch, riding horses, driving the pickup and horse trailer, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Hank (Angie) Davis and Roxy (Tibby) Davis; three daughters, Doris McCulloch, Sharon Davis and Sally (Roy) Hutt; a brother, Donald (Marianna) Rice; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Buford; and a sister, Bonnie Curtis.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
