Edward Rozman

Edward F. Rozman died in Grand Junction Feb. 20, 2017. He was 94.

He was born in Crested Butte Nov. 25, 1922. He graduated from Crested Butte High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1942. He was trained as an electrician and assigned to the USS Lloyd, a destroyer.

After his discharge, Mr. Rozman worked in Crested Butte as a miner and then in California as an electrician before returning to Crested Butte.

In June 1952, he married Helen June (Nelson) Halazon.

From 1952 to 1958, Mr. Rozman opened and ran the Elk Café and Bar. He then delivered freight and worked at the Amax Mine. He moved with his family to Paonia in 1987. Mrs. Rozman preceded him in death in 2010, and in 2016, Mr. Rozman moved to Grand Junction.

He is survived by his son, Roger Rozman; his sister, Julia Guire; daughter-in-law, Darlene Halazon; and two grandsons, Fred and Ryan Halazon.

Rosary was recited Feb. 26 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 27 and interment followed at Crested Butte Cemetery.
