Delta resident Edwin L. Dittmer died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his home. He was 82.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 14, and Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, both at St. Michael Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Mr. Dittmer was born in Lacona, Iowa, June 23, 1933, to Arthur and Marie (Snuggs) Dittmer. He spent his childhood in Lacona and graduated from Lacona High School in 1952.
He married Rose Thell Nov. 28, 1957, in Mayhew Lake, Minn.
He lived in Delta County for 42 years. He was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church where he served as an officer. He was very involved in Boy Scouts of America, serving as troop leader for many years.
Mr. Dittmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling and family affairs. He competed in match shooting and climbed several of Colorado's 14'ers.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Dittmer; a son, E. Philip Dittmer of Vernal, Utah; three daughters, Kathy (Butch) Widner, Patti (Bill) Hunt, all of Hotchkiss, and Mary Lynn Dittmer of Grand Junction; two brothers, Wayne Dittmer of Aurora and Neil Dittmer of Littleton; two sisters, Genny Hotsetz of Denver and Joyce Dittmer of California; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dittmer was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Heine.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
