Delta senior Elena Gilliam has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Lamar Community College.

Gilliam will pursue a degree in education or secondary education.

One of Gilliam's reasons for selecting Lamar Communtiy College was based on the atmosphere of the campus and the people there. "It's small ... the town is the size of Delta so it will be good for me. The campus is really nice, and everyone I met was really nice and welcoming."

The influencing factors for Gilliam's choice of college rested mainly with her. "It was mostly me who influenced this decision. Once I got there I met the coach and the team. I knew this was the perfect place for me. The campus is small and that's what I loved. The teachers all know their students and I will not be just some random face."

Gloria and Chris Gilliam are Elena's parents.
