Elouise Fender passed away at home on Nov. 5, 2015.

She was born to George and Charlotte Hammerich on March 3, 1930, in Glenwood Springs. She graduated from Glenwood Springs High School.

Elouise grew up on what is now known as the Bershenyi Ranch up 4-Mile until her parents sold the ranch in 1947.

Elouise is survived by her husband, Harold Fender; son, Rick (Priscilla) Jurick of Alaska; daughters, Jody (Dave) Anthes of Basalt and Kristi (John) Gill of Silt; stepsons, Gary (Linda) and Marvin (Roberta) Fender of Silt/DeBeque; sister, Elizabeth Stapelton of Aspen; nine grandchildren, Fritz (Vanessa) Anthes, Josh (Heather) Anthes, Shelly (Seth) Gunter, Wendy Cooper, Tammy (Mike) Hohenberger, Kevin (Kelly) Fender, Jimmy (Niki) Fender, Chris (Alicia) Fender, Sharon (Jared) Samuelson; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mom spent most of her life in the Roaring Fork Valley; also later in Montana, Crawford and the Monticello, Utah, area.

She loved the ranching life, feeding the cows off a team of horses in the winter. One of her greatest thrills was racing her horse Rio in the Garfield County cow pony races 1987-89. Mom also rode in a woman's side saddle club in Ennis, Mont. She used her family's old (1885) side saddle on a horse named Misty. Camping and riding in the mountains of the Roaring Fork Valley, running cows up the Frying Pan, skiing in Aspen, square dancing at 7 Castles with the Crowleys and Sterkers, buying turquoise in the Southwest were also great memories of her.

Mom is at home with Jesus now. She requested no funeral -- just remember her.
